Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking an individual to fill a BUYER position. Candidate must have experience in the manufacturing industry to be considered. Experience in the food and/or pharmaceuticals sector is an asset.

POSITION SUMMARY

* Review Material Requirements Planning Report daily, develop purchase orders and meet production needs
* Determine/purchase necessary product components given consideration of the cost, production requirements, customer needs and warehouse space available
* Monitor purchase orders and liaise between suppliers and internal staff
* Coordinate with internal staff to review and maintain adequate supplies in order to meet production requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Attend and participate in daily production meetings and weekly new product meetings
* Multi-source materials to ensure low risk
* Enforce vendor compliance
* Assist with Material Requisition Forms
* Meet/communicate with suppliers in order to discuss new business, negotiate contract prices, etc. in a cost effective manner
* Liase with vendors and address, respond, manage, prioritize and follow up on inquiries/problems
* Solicit and analyze supplier quotes and award new business.
* Monitor Material Requirement Planning requirements
* Liaise with Warehouse staff to optimize space allocation
* Manage and keep all inventories current and up to date.
* Monitor and expedite deliver dates
* General office administration
